Lady Bug

I had a hard time picking today, so here are the other choices. I was proud of this shot. It took a lot of time to get my camera to understand that that branch with the bug on it was what i wanted to focus on in macro, and not the ground beneth it. Thanks to JW for picking which of the many pictures to use for today's Photo A Day.

Hymns

We went to Spanish stadium singing tonight. I've never been (I don't speak any Spanish, why would I go?) but my roommate wanted to go. We sang this song, and apparently I was able to pull off a Spanish accent well. Also, Here is a good video. A friend has been having a hard time recently, and found this. Hope it helps anyone else who is having a hard time.

Dance Party

Yes, believe it or not, my roommate talked me into going to a dance. I haven't been to one of those in probably about 4 years. It was a lot of fun, but I was finished after a short amount of time.

empty

This is what our mailbox looks like on a daily basis. Considering I never took one like this on my mission, then I figured it was okay to take one now

Rainy Nights

I realized that my mission has ruined me. I no longer count what used to be good rainstorms as good rainstorms. I guess going to somewhere were it gets more than a foot of water a year will do that to a person.
Also, I took some pictures of a cute rabbit that was in the gardens the other night. I never posted them, but ment to, so here they are

Temple Square

For the first time in about three years, I ventured downtown today to Temple Square (and inside the temple. That was quite an adventure wherein I almost got lost :))
Tonight, Dad's brother Ken and his wife Kristine was over. Dad built a tandom bike sometime while I was gone, and Dad wanted to show Ken and Kristine the bike, so we went for a short ride. It was the first time I've riden tandom. It was a lot of fun. Dad also has a kid sized tandom that Dante and the neighbour girl rode, but my batteries died right before I was going to take their picture.

More pictures from today here.

song of the day here. it is mostly true. i dont have a friend with me tonight, but i have my family. so its close.

After outside

It was beautiful outside today, so I spent the day outside reading and trying to stay hydrated. I also managed (as is per-usual) to get sunburned. I think I might have rememberd just how fast you get burned in this high altitude

Family History

Yesterday, after looking at pictures of Dad's family, Mom got down something that Grandma S had made for her for Christmas 2009. I had heard about the project from Grandma S, however, since I was gone on my mission, I wasn't able to actually see it. Mom was kind enough to get it down and let me look through it. It was really cool. It had a history of my Grandpa S, who I didn't know because he died when I was 2, and it had a history of my mom and all her kids, and my two uncles. It was really cool to see. And it is something that can (and probably will) be added to. It almost made me want to do soemthing like that, but I don't know what I would do that with. Mom's side of the family is already done, as is Dad's side. Oh well. I'll just have to keep it in mind for my own kids when I get old.

Old pictures

We went up to grandma's house today, and she had all sort's of old pictures of all her kids spread out in the living room. This is some pictures of Dad when he was small. I havent ever seen the baby picture before, so it was a plesant surprise. :)

I actually got a decent bedtime for the first time in who knows how long. course, only getting an hour and a half of sleep the night before/that morning probably helped with that a lot.

Menan Buttes

The Menan Buttes are old volcanoes, and so for a class trip (in the middle of finals, it felt so good to get outside :)) we climbed to the top. This is inside the crator. Yes, I know it doesn't look all that impressive, but of course, you can't get on film what you can get in person. If ever anyone wants to go out there and hike up it, I would completely reccomend it. It was a lot of fun

Thank You Notes

Okay, I'll admit it I didn't actually take this picture on the 7th, but, I have valad reason. I charged my batteries the night before, got up and was going about my day. I tried to take a picture of something (something a lot better than thank you notes, but I wasnt able to get it. Maybe someday in the future I will), and no matter what I did, my camera wouldnt turn on. I went home, and changed out the batteries for the other set I had chaged. No such luck. So, early morning on the 8th I ran to the store to find some batteries, and took this picture (which is what it would have been if I had gotten home and had working batteries at home)

chore list

Yes, it is a list of jobs to do. Today was white glove. A really deep cleaning of the apartment, that is about a 12 hour cleaning job, just for your list of jobs. No one likes to do it, but it is a necessary thing. I was quite happy quite happy with the job that I was assigned-part of the kitchen. I've always been somewhat of a clean kitchen freak, and it just is magnified when I am at school (or while I was on my mission). But I have come to accept it, and move on. We passed, which we were all excited about. They seem to have gotten more lax on it since the last time I was here. But again, I think that is okay.

For a good story about white glove, go here. I found it quite amusing.

For seeing my roomate very possibly high on fumes, go here. She was singing the song most of the night.

the Lorax

A good friend and roomate is in town for the week (she just got done with her student teaching, and now is up here, picking up her sister from school) and saw this one day while she was away student teaching. She said "I thought of you when I saw it, and knew I needed to get it." It made me happy.

Blizzards in April

This is what it looked like 5 minutes before I left the house to go to General Conference (one of two weekends a year that those in the LDS church gather and listen to the Prophet, Apostles, and other leaders of our church). I'm so happy it is April in Rexburg, Idaho

Organ Recital

I know y'all are tired of seeing pictures of organs and organ related stuff. But this was the last recital for the semester, so y'all probably wont see any more again. Unless I go sometime next seemster to some stuff, just to relesh the memories. The possibliites are slim though.

For some video of some of the songs (there were a LOT of them, so this is just two of them) go here
