So we used to have a smoke detector in our kitchen. Unfortunately, it also used to be right above the stove and microwave, so whenever something was steaming, or even if we cooked something in the microwave, it would go off. So we took it out, and the problem was solved. Apparently it was still keeping track of the battery life however, because at about 10:30 tonight, it started to beep. the only problem is that it was back in J's room, hidden behind a very heavy tool box (we still have no idea how it got there). so we got to go digging through everything to try and find it. it took us a a good half hour or more to find it. and both Drew and I were very surprised that J stayed asleep through it all. especially since we had some rather...close calls... with noisy items that were moved.
In an effort to find an organ to practice on, I had to tromp all over campus, including spending some time meandering through the gardens. I found this setting, and decided I wouldn't mind having something like this in my own yard one day...if I had a big enough yard I suppose.
We had a busy day between pulling all the toys out of the toy box, building a blanket fort (just to have it be pulled down moments later) several times, a work barbecue and playing at the splash park afterword. all in all, a fun day, if busy and action packed.
We've been having a lot of rain recently, and since we have a leak in our roof still, this gets to hang out blocking most of our hallway for the last two or three days. I am excited for the sun to come back out and dry things up and we can have our hallway back.
we've had these for a couple days now, and have been thoroughly enjoying having them. they let in so much light! not quite enough to have the lights off (they still usually need to be on to see enough to get stuff done) but it is a LOT lighter in our apartment. I LOVE having these!!
We got some free potatoes on our way home from our walk today, and I set them on our table so I could run to the bathroom before putting them away. I should have guessed that J, who usually will have a snack on a walk, but didn't today, would be hungry. I came out of the bathroom to find, of course, that J was trying (and succeeding a lot more than I would have guessed) to eat the potatoes raw.
