Chaco lines

It's definitely summer out, and that means Chaco's are for everything. :) Yay for super comfy durable sandals and exciting tan lines from them!

Winter hats an boots....with shorts

We recently got J a R2-D2 hat, and he's re-found his Spider Man boots. They are all he's wanted to wear when we leave the house. Not having a really good reason not to let him, he's gotten to wear them to his heart's desire. He's quite excited about both of them :) 

Blue skies

We finally got some rain the other day, and it cleared out a lot of the smoke in the sky, which has been really nice. It was SOOOOO nice to see some blue in the sky today :) 

Huge balls!

There was a kid oriented family carnival at the park today. I was hoping for more kid-friendly activities, but J loved that they turned the tennis court into somewhere full of balls of all sizes, including some of these gigantic ones.

J found some fun trees he enjoyed going through at the park today. 

Evening at the park

at the CIT barbeque yesterday, we got some cupons for free frozen custard. We went tonight to get some, and then spent afterword playing at the park. We all had a lot of fun, and J enjoyed having dad along for a change.

CIT family barbeque

the CIT department had a barbeque tonight. Happy for J, some of our good friends also work in the CIT department at the school. J had fun running through the water and going on the carousel, just generally spending some time outside. It was a lot of fun.

At Bever Dick Park

We went to Bever dick today to unofficially reserve a camping spot for family coming up. We enjoyed playing in the river that runs right next to it for a little while.

We joined some friends at the splash park today. J wasn't such a fan this time either. 

Rain!

after a few days of looking like it every evening, it finally rained tonight. It cooled it off very nicely. hopefully that will last for a few days.

I got this sweet pen from the library as a prize for the summer reading program. I was super excited to get it :) 

Picnic

We finally were able to go on the picnic I've been wanting to have for the last month plus. It ended up raining on us in the end, so we had to cut it short, and do not as much exploring of the place as we wanted (neither of us even knew that this place existed before, let alone visited) but we want to go back.

Reading program

We signed up for the local library's summer reading program. J's will definitely be doable. Read an hour and 15 minutes plus do two listed activities for each prize. Definitely doable. We also got an awesome ninja duck with his signup. I don't know if I'll be able to do much of mine... read 600 pages for each level. I think it's a total of 5 each (for whatever reason, it doesn't say exactly how many levels there are for the adults) they have a place to write down the books and page numbers, but not many lines. I've thought about counting the many many books I read with J, but with a limited number of spaces to write down books, I'd quick;y run out of room. I guess we'll have to see what happens. If I feel like the amount shown isn't very reflective of all the reading we do, then  I might start keeping track on another page, so I can write down kids books about a million times each  :) 

Drip bucket

We've been having a lot of rain recently, and since we have a leak in our roof still, this gets to hang out blocking most of our hallway for the last two or three days. I am excited for the sun to come back out and dry things up and  we can have our hallway back.

we had TONS of rain today. It rained nearly all day. this picture doesn't do it justice, but i couldn't get a shot that did.

even my water is hot...

It was SOOOOO hot tonight, so we moved the mattress off the bed, and put it beneath the window to try and get some of the breeze that was coming in. right before we did this, we soaked ourselves in cold water, to try and evaporate it and make it better, and as i was taking a drink, i noticed that it wasn't even just room temperature, it was hot.
