Quilt

I started to put together a quilt today.  it didn't end up lining up so well, most any where.  i was more than a little disappointed. perhaps i need to improve my technique.

Down a tree lined path

I went on a bike ride today, down to the nature park.  i haven't been there in a while, so i was surprised to see how green and shaded this path had become.

unexpected package

the post man came to our door today to deliver this package.  it was completely unexpected.  inside was a bunch of stuff from my parents (that they didn't want around any more), mostly credit card offers.  next time we go down to salt lake, we are going to stop in to use their shredder to shred them all, since we don't have one, and aren't really sure where around here might have one.

Gold Van

as we were getting into the car this morning to go to church, we looked over and saw this gold van just sitting in the next parking lot over (its connected to ours).  i'm not quite sure what to make of it, or even what its for.  and yes, those are gold painted tires.

Boxes

We got some new bookshelves today.  i was going to take a picture of them, but they are black, in a dark house, so it wouldn't turn out well.  instead, you get this wonderful picture of boxes that are now empty and on the shelves 

Dust pile

i did some vacuuming today, and after noticed that the filter hadn't been cleaned out for a good long while.  i cleaned it out, and came up with this huge pile of dust.

Chicken Pigeons

All summer long, we've been hearing pigeons in and out of this alley way (that our apartment goes all the way around, so we can't get away from the sound) one day, when we were looking at them, we noticed they seem to be a lot bigger than any other pigeons we've seen.  they were almost chicken sized.  here is a poor picture of the chicken pigeons. 

fabric softener

I've been meaning to try this recipie for fabric softener for a while, but never have. it was really simple, just baking soda, water, and vinager. it smells somewhat vinigary, but it said you could add some essential oils to make it smell better. i haven't tried it yet, but i can't wait to see if it works.

Cheese puffs

We wanted to get out of the house tonight, so we went window shopping at a few different places. we eventually ended up at k-mart and were amused to find this. when drew came to rexburg so we could get our marriage licence, he had brought with him a HUGE thing of cheese balls. probably twice the size of this one. we had some fun reminiscing, and had to take a picture of them.

loveable friend

i needed to get out of the house today, so a friend and i went on a walk. we came across this little guy who decided us to follow us most of the way. he was so happy to be petted and loved.

Ice cream splurge

i was feeling a lot better today, so i decided to eat some ice cream as a treat :)

At the bishop's house

we had a ward activity at the Bishop's house today, and we were both feeling up to going (though later left somewhat early as we were both feeling out of it). people were supposed to be able to float down the river, but no one really went while we were there.

double list

we might go down to IF tomorrow, so i made a grocery list for if we stay in Rexburg, and one for if we go to IF and to winco

repeat of yesterday

including the fact that i was sick at work. i was going to call in, but since work has just recently moved, no one yet knows the number.

reading

I spent a large part of today fighting with my stomach, and otherwise trying to ignore it by reading. here was my literature of choice for today. on an upside, i also had work, and was sick all day at work too.

Green tomatoes

I fried some of these up today (i couldn't get a picture before they were all eaten). it reminded me a lot of my mission. for more about it go here

cloths drying rack

With the warm days and no AC, we decided to try saving some money on washing and drying by getting a cloths drying rack. it actually works pretty well. plus, i re-discovered evaporitve cooling. it helps to make the area cooler, just because the cloths are evaporating. :)

condemned for demolition

It looks like they will start soon to tear down this old house that used to be my apartment. i'm sad to see it go.

snap dragons

I decided to surprise drew by waiting outside his work today, so we could go home together. while waiting, I saw these beautiful snap dragons.

EFY is on campus

i came to work today, and had to keep yelling out "excuse me" as i was biking through this line and they kept looking at me like i was crazy. and i probably was. unfortunately, this line was right in my path to get to work. i can't wait for EFY to be finished.

zuccini bread, take one

I tried to make zuccini bread today, and even after cooking it for 90 minutes, it still came out with the middle gooey. it tasted pretty good, if somewhat goey

Lunch with Drew

For a while now, Drew has been asking me to come join him at work for lunch with some of his coworkers. i ended up going today, and enjoyed watching them all play some sort of zombie hunting game.

canned zuccini

His family had TONS of zuccini, so we canned some to take home and use in future recipies.

Frog Squares

Over the weekend i started working on making just one of these squares for a quilt. lets just say it didn't turn out quite like i thought it would (it didn't even end up looking like the frog shown here), and i won't be making any more

Unexpected trip to Payette

Drew unexpectedly got the day off today (problems at work, not his choosing), so we decided to take a trip to Payette and see his family. one of my favorite parts of the trip is seeing all the windmills on the way there

construction, hopefully almost done

they've got this a lot more progressed. i'm excited to see that it almost actually looks like an amphitheater (though why we need one in the middle of campus i still can't guess)

paint chips

to get out o the house today, i went to walmart. it was extremely busy at the cash registers when i walked in for my two items, so instead of just heading right out, i wandered the store a bit. i wandered through the paint section, looking at colors that i would like my apartment to be (instead of cookie monster blue), and came across these. i forgot to take a picture of them in the store, so i took one here at home. no matter what i did with the picture, it turned up horrible quality. its supposed to be a green color, almost a light sagey green, but not quite.

we had TONS of rain today. It rained nearly all day. this picture doesn't do it justice, but i couldn't get a shot that did.
